This Privacy Policy explains how Device Native, Inc. ("Device Native," "we," "us," or "our") handles information for the Moto Device Native service. Motorola/Lenovo controls the Motorola device software, launcher, App Drawer, user interface, and related settings. Device Native provides advertising, recommendation, click-routing, measurement, and reporting services as a service provider/processor for Motorola/Lenovo and relevant advertising or measurement partners.

This policy covers only Device Native's role in the Moto Device Native service. Motorola/Lenovo, Android, app stores, advertisers, measurement partners, and third-party apps may process information under their own privacy policies.

Summary

The Moto Device Native service is designed to provide app recommendations and sponsored suggestions without creating an identifiable Device Native user profile.

Retained Moto Device Native records do not include a user's IP address, hashed IP address, Android Advertising ID/GAID, name, contact information, account login, or precise location. Device Native retains limited service-event information, such as internal ad, session, and click IDs, app or placement context, approximate country or region, timestamps, and conversion events. We use this information to operate and secure the service and to create aggregate performance, revenue, and conversion reporting.

An IP address is processed transiently when a device or partner server communicates with Device Native. When Android and Motorola settings allow it, the Android Advertising ID may be transmitted through a tracking link to the relevant advertiser or measurement partner for attribution. Device Native does not retain either value in Moto analytics, click-routing, postback, or reporting records.

Device Native does not sell personal information or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising through the Moto Device Native service.

1. Information processed by the service

Most personalization and ranking for Moto launcher and App Drawer recommendations happens on the device. Motorola software may use local signals to support those features, but Device Native does not receive raw installed-app inventories, raw app-usage histories, notification content, shortcut content, or raw search text as a user profile.

Device Native may process the following limited information when providing the service:

  • Service and device context. Information such as device model, operating-system and software versions, carrier, country or region, placement, app package, configuration version, and service-performance information.
  • Ad and recommendation events. Information showing that content was requested, displayed, selected, or routed, together with timestamps and internal ad, session, or click IDs. For search-related measurement, Device Native may receive query length, but not the raw search text.
  • Conversion information. Advertisers or measurement partners may report that a click led to an install, app open, purchase, or other conversion. These reports may include the relevant partner, app package, click ID, conversion type or value, approximate country or region, and timestamp.
  • Network and attribution information. Internet communications necessarily involve an IP address and may include a user agent. If Android and Motorola settings make a valid Advertising ID available and permit its use, it may be included in the selected advertiser's or measurement partner's tracking link.

2. Information Device Native does not retain

Device Native does not retain IP addresses, hashed IP addresses, or Android Advertising IDs/GAIDs in Moto app-event analytics, click-routing metadata, postback records, aggregate reports, or other retained Moto service records.

The Moto Device Native service also does not collect or retain a user's name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, messages, microphone or camera data, precise GPS location, IMEI, serial number, Android ID, account credentials, full installed-app inventory, raw app-usage history, notification content, shortcut content, or raw search text.

Retained service-event records may contain internal session IDs or click IDs. These identifiers are used to operate and measure the service; they are not a user's name, contact information, Android Advertising ID, or Device Native account. Some laws may nevertheless treat online identifiers and related event information as personal data even when they do not identify a person by name.

Because retained Moto Device Native records omit names, contact information, account logins, IP addresses, and Advertising IDs, Device Native generally cannot identify a specific user from those records. Device Native does not attempt to reidentify users from retained service data.

3. How information is used and disclosed

Device Native uses limited service information to:

  • provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Moto Device Native service;
  • select eligible ads and recommendations and route clicks to the requested destination;
  • measure impressions, clicks, conversions, revenue, performance, and reliability;
  • create aggregate reporting for Device Native, Motorola/Lenovo, advertisers, and measurement partners;
  • detect fraud, abuse, duplicate attribution, invalid traffic, and broken destinations; and
  • support billing, reconciliation, legal compliance, and protection of the service.

Device Native may disclose information in the following circumstances:

  • Motorola/Lenovo. We provide aggregate performance reporting and information needed to operate and diagnose the Moto integration.
  • Advertisers, app stores, and measurement partners. When a user follows an ad or recommendation, the destination may receive information included in its tracking link, including the Advertising ID when enabled. The destination also receives ordinary network information when the user's device connects to it, such as an IP address and user agent. Those parties handle information under their own privacy policies.
  • Service providers. Cloud hosting, storage, logging, analytics, monitoring, and security providers process information on Device Native's behalf to operate the service.
  • Legal and business needs. We may disclose information when required by law or legal process, to protect rights and safety, investigate fraud or security issues, or complete a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets.

Device Native does not disclose Moto service data for third parties to build independent advertising profiles. Device Native does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising through the Moto Device Native service, as those terms are defined under California law.

4. Retention and security

Device Native keeps information only as long as reasonably needed to provide, secure, measure, and support the service and to meet legal, billing, and operational requirements.

Network systems may process request information transiently to deliver communications, prevent abuse, and maintain reliability. Short-lived operational data and routing caches expire automatically. Retained Moto analytics, click-routing, postback, and reporting records do not include IP addresses or Android Advertising IDs/GAIDs. Aggregate usage, revenue, billing, and conversion totals may be kept longer for reporting, reconciliation, fraud review, and contractual obligations.

When information is no longer needed, Device Native deletes it, aggregates it, or de-identifies it in accordance with operational and legal requirements.

Device Native uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect the information it processes. No transmission or storage method is perfectly secure, but we limit the information we retain, restrict access, monitor operational systems, and reduce sensitive information in logs and analytics records.

5. User choices and privacy rights

Available controls depend on the device, Android version, Google Play services, Motorola software, regional settings, and the relevant advertiser or app store.

Users may be able to reset or delete the Android Advertising ID, limit advertising personalization, change app permissions, or manage launcher and other device settings through Android or Motorola controls. If Android does not provide a valid Advertising ID, or if its use is disabled by applicable settings or service configuration, the Moto Device Native service does not transmit a valid Advertising ID through its tracking links.

After a user follows an ad or recommendation, the destination app, app store, advertiser, or measurement partner provides its own privacy controls.

Depending on where a user lives, the user may have rights to request access, deletion, correction, or portability of personal information, or to object to, restrict, or opt out of certain processing. Because Device Native does not retain names, account logins, IP addresses, or Advertising IDs in Moto service records, we may be unable to locate a particular user's record without additional context, such as an approximate date or a click ID. We use information submitted with a privacy request only to process and verify that request.

To make a request concerning Device Native, email privacy@devicenative.com. Users should contact Motorola/Lenovo for requests concerning Motorola device software, Motorola accounts, or Motorola-operated services.

6. Regional and international information

For users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, online identifiers and service events may be personal data even when Device Native cannot identify a user by name. Device Native generally processes Moto service information as a service provider/processor. Motorola/Lenovo or the relevant advertising or measurement partner determines the applicable purpose and legal basis for processing, including whether consent is required, and Device Native processes information under the applicable instructions and agreements.

Users in these regions may have rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection. Where processing is based on consent, users may withdraw consent through the applicable Android, Motorola/Lenovo, advertiser, or measurement-partner controls. Users may also complain to their local data-protection authority.

For California residents, the categories of personal information processed for the Moto Device Native service may include identifiers, such as transient IP addresses or Advertising IDs and internal session or click IDs; internet or electronic-network activity, such as ad requests, impressions, clicks, routing events, and conversions; approximate location, such as country or region; and commercial or measurement information, such as conversion and revenue events. This information comes from the Moto SDK and integration surfaces, advertisers, measurement partners, and service providers and is used and disclosed for the purposes described in this policy.

Device Native does not use or disclose sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about users. California residents may exercise applicable privacy rights by emailing privacy@devicenative.com, and Device Native will not discriminate against a user for exercising a privacy right.

Device Native is based in the United States and uses cloud infrastructure and service providers in the United States and other countries. Where required, Device Native uses appropriate contractual, technical, and organizational safeguards for international transfers, such as data-processing terms or Standard Contractual Clauses.

Device Native does not collect special-category data through the Moto Device Native service and does not use Moto service data to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects for a user.

7. Children's privacy

The Moto Device Native service is not directed to children. Device Native does not knowingly collect names, contact information, or account information from children through this service. If you believe a child has provided personal information directly to Device Native through the Moto Device Native service, contact privacy@devicenative.com.

8. Changes and contact

Device Native may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and make the revised policy available through this page or another appropriate notice mechanism.
